Tallapoosa County, Alabama, 16-year-old Melody Jackson, who’s battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer called adrenocortical carcinoma, received a special gift from Make-A-Wish Alabama. Instead of using her wish for herself, the teen who’s known for her selflessness and always thinking about how her actions will positively impact others, decided to give back to her school, Reeltown High School. She chose to use her wish to provide new uniforms for the school's marching band.
Make-A-Wish Alabama held a surprise graduation ceremony for Jackson at her high school, where they announced her unique wish. The foundation's spokesperson called it one of the most unique requests they've ever received and praised Jackson's love for her community.
Jackson's cancer affects only one in a million Americans, and she was diagnosed after experiencing health issues at band camp last year.
Despite her dire prognosis, she decided to make a lasting impact on her school's band and community by providing them with the new uniforms. The school has rallied around her, and her selfless gesture has touched the hearts of many.
