Two deaths involving E-Bike riders in two counties in one day.
A child was killed while riding an electronic bicycle in Jupiter last night. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says two boys were on an e-bike along Indian Creek Parkway when they collided with a vehicle.
One boy died at the scene, the second one was rushed to the hospital and the vehicle's driver suffered minor injuries.
That happened after an e-bike crash in Stuart earlier in the day, where Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek tells CBS 12 that a man lost his life.
"That e-bike rider was struck, was thrown a significant distance north of the actual impact. At least, I would say, 100-150 feet. It was quite a distance."
Budensiek says it was just one of three fatalities since last Friday.
"We lost a bicyclist, an e-bicyclist and a dirt bike rider. So that's alarming to us."
There have now been 12 traffic fatalities in Martin County so far this year, compared with 23 during all of last year.
He's advising everyone to drive carefully, especially those who are traveling on e-bikes.
