The City of Riviera Beach is working on removing abandoned boats from area waterways. It's a collaboration between the police department, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Sea Tow.
Police Chief Michael Coleman says the removal of the five boats is aimed at improving the safety and aesthetics of the city's waterways.
The vessels are being extracted, transported and safely disposed of within the environmental regulations and safety standards. The work is expected to be completed by the end of this week.
Residents are asked to report any abandoned boats to the police department.
