Mother Of Transgender High School Athlete Could Lose Her Job

The mother of a transgender girl who played on the girls' volleyball team at Monarch High School in Coconut Creek learns her fate today. Jessica Norton, an information specialist at the school, could be fired if five of the nine Broward School Board members agree to it. The district is investigating since the now-16-year-old girl violated the "Fairness in Women's Sports Act" mandating trans girls can't play girls sports. The Florida High School Athletic Association fined the school 16-thousand-500-dollars. The principal and two staff members who were reassigned during the investigation have been cleared.
