"Weird Al" Yankovic has announced that a Broadway musical of his songs is officially in the works.

The famed parody hitmaker revealed the news to Howard Stern on Tuesday (May 12). "We are developing a Weird Al jukebox Broadway musical," he told Stern. "The working title is 'Dare To Be Stupid: The Weird Al Musical,' featuring, of course, songs from my catalogue." Watch the announcement here.

The musician and actor also provided details behind the upcoming project, revealing that writers Scott Brown and Anthony King will be penning the script.

"A lot of really high-powered players involved in this, and it looks like it's happening," he continued.

Some of Yankovic's most well-known parody songs include "White & Nerdy," "Amish Paradise," "Eat It," and "Like a Surgeon," spoofing Chamillionaire's "Ridin," Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise," Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and Madonna's "Like a Virgin", respectively.

"Ever since I was a middle-aged man, I've always wanted to be a part of the New York theatre community," the musician said in a statement to Deadline on Tuesday. "Plus, the one thing people always say about Broadway is that it's 'severely lacking in Weird Al-based entertainment,' and I think this musical should fix that problem immediately."

"Weird Al" is no stranger to adaptations of his work. In 2022, a film based on a parody of his life, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, starred Daniel Radcliffe in the titular role.
